This notice explains privacy practices affecting children under 13 who participate in SOB Game Changers activities or may use the SOB mobile app. Read it along with our Privacy Policy.
1. Who operates the service
Carmichael, CA 95608
Phone: 279-253-5021
Email: sobgamechangers@gmail.com
2. Information about children
When a guardian registers an athlete, we receive the athlete's name, date of birth, school/grade, division, football and tryout details, measurements supplied for registration, shirt size, and the guardian's contact details. We also record the signed waiver and the choices made about app access and promotional media.
If an authorized child account is later activated, the app can handle account identity, profile photo (if added), team membership, schedules, attendance/check-in history, and messages sent or received through authorized team communications. Security and notification technology can process device or authentication identifiers as needed to operate these features.
3. Why we collect it
We use this information to register athletes for tryouts, verify division eligibility, allocate tryout sessions and shirt numbers, manage teams and attendance, deliver important family/team messages, protect children, and support authorized app access. We do not make a child provide more information than reasonably needed to use a feature.
4. Who sees it and disclosures
Authorized SOB staff, assigned coaches, and linked guardians may see role-appropriate details. Messages may be visible to the addressed participants. Service providers such as Supabase, website/email providers, and Firebase or Apple notification infrastructure process limited information to provide the service. Some features may expose information to other authorized members, which is why children's messaging and account access need additional safeguards.
We do not sell children's information or use it for targeted advertising. We do not treat permission to join tryouts as permission to post public photos or recruiting details. The registration form asks separately about optional promotional media; other public disclosures may require additional permission.
5. Direct notice and verifiable parental consent
When COPPA requires consent for collection or use of a child's personal information directly through the app, we will provide direct notice to a parent and use a method reasonably designed to verify the person consenting is the child's parent or legal guardian before that child-facing collection occurs. Checking an ordinary form box or typing a name is not automatically sufficient verification.
The tryout form's app-access choice indicates whether the guardian wishes to be contacted about an athlete account. It is not a substitute for any separately required verified consent.
6. Your rights as a parent or guardian
You may ask to review personal information collected from your child, request correction or deletion of eligible information, and refuse further online collection or use. To protect the athlete, we may ask for information needed to confirm that you are the authorized parent or guardian. To make a request:
- Email sobgamechangers@gmail.com with the subject "Child Privacy Request" or call 279-253-5021.
- Provide your name and a way for us to identify the athlete's registration or account. Please do not email identity documents, full payment card numbers, or other sensitive records unless we have given you a secure way to submit them.
- We will explain the applicable verification and review process, and respond to your request. Withdrawing consent may make certain child account functions unavailable.
7. Children's data retention and deletion policy
We retain the minimum information reasonably necessary for each stated purpose. Our schedule is based on the reason a record is needed:
| Information | Purpose and retention timeframe |
|---|---|
| Tryout applications for athletes not selected | Administer tryouts and respond to related questions. Review after the tryout cycle and remove within 12 months after that season ends, unless a specific legal or safety reason requires longer. |
| Active athlete/team records | Manage rosters, schedules, attendance, and family accounts for the active season. Review at the end of participation and remove or de-identify information no longer needed within 24 months after the athlete leaves the program, unless a valid legal, payment, or safety need applies. |
| App and notification identifiers | Authenticate and deliver messages or notifications. Remove when the related account or device registration is removed and the identifier is no longer needed; review inactive identifiers at least annually. |
| Messages and support reports | Support authorized communications and respond to safety concerns. Review after account closure or resolution of a report, and delete or de-identify information no longer needed within 24 months, except for specific safety or legal preservation needs. |
| Signed waivers, consent evidence, transaction and incident records | Document permissions, respond to disputes, support safety, and meet legal obligations. Keep only for the period reasonably necessary for those obligations, then securely remove them. An active legal hold may extend the timeframe for the specific record. |
We do not retain child information indefinitely simply because storage is available. We review records each season and arrange deletion or de-identification when their documented purpose has ended. If a parent requests deletion, we review which information can be removed immediately and which narrowly defined records must be retained under another obligation.
